A list of apps I use on GrapheneOS, but most also make sense on other operating systems. Install "F-Droid Basic" and Obtainium, add a few repos to F-Droid by searching for "F-Droid known repositories"

If you are using GrapheneOS on your main phone, then you have made the first and most important step towards privacy in your daily life (in my opinion of course). Most people use their phones more than any other device, and have their phones on them almost all the time, so ensuring that your phone is as private as you can reasonably and comfortably make it is a great move. Switching the operating system is only the first step however. If you move from an iPhone full of big tech apps to GrapheneOS and then install all those apps again, what is the point? Sure, you will have a more private and secure system, but you would subject yourself to being tracked every time you open an app. So, we need to find alternatives to these apps, that are open source, don't track us, keep everything possible local, and don't have an ulterior agenda beyond being the tool you are looking for.

Throughout the years, we have been relying on big companies like Google, Microsoft, Meta and others to give us access to their products to use our computers and phones, communicate on the online web, and store our files. However, as things have gotten worse with the years and the rise of gen-AI only making things worse, people are starting to question if they can even move to new services. However, the journey can be hard and there are so many options that non-tech savvy people are going lose patience and give up. That is why I made this long and comprehensive list of mostly open-source alternatives to different things from computer OS, social media, to even TV. Many things are easy to move to, others are for more tech-savvy people, and this list doesn't even have all of the available options in any category! However, this is a great first step into trying new things and to slowly move away from big tech. You don't need to do it all at once, go step by step, decide if there are some services you can't stop using and which ones could use a switch and have fun!
