What is RMMZit?

RMMZit is a free, open-source remote monitoring and management (RMM) tool you run on your own server. One web console shows the inventory of every Windows and Linux computer, raises alerts, gives technicians remote desktop and a terminal in the browser, runs scripts and installs Windows updates on a schedule.

The server runs on a small Linux VM in your own network; agents connect outbound, so managed computers need no open ports, and every command from the console is signed and checked by the agent.

Features:

  • Inventory: hardware, operating system, disks, network, Defender, firewall and BitLocker state, installed software
  • Monitoring and alerts: CPU, memory, disk space, offline devices, stopped services, disk health, network checks, event logs; history with a disk-full forecast; alerts by e-mail, Slack, Microsoft Teams or webhook
  • Remote access in the browser: remote desktop (Windows, Linux with X11), terminal, file manager, processes, services, registry and scheduled tasks
  • Scripts: PowerShell, cmd, bash or sh on one device, many at once or on a schedule, from a library
  • Updates and software: missing Windows updates and Linux packages, installed by hand or on a schedule; programs through winget or Chocolatey; your own MSI/EXE library
  • Policies per customer, site or device: Windows Update, required and blocked software, update rings, restarts, maintenance windows, alert rules, BitLocker
  • Vulnerabilities of installed programs, reports per customer, REST API
  • Users with roles, two-factor sign-in, Active Directory / LDAP and single sign-on
  • Deployment: MSI with an enrollment code, ready Group Policy and Intune settings
  • 14 languages; free under the AGPLv3, commercial support available from MaxZit
