PubKeep is a Microsoft Publisher replacement for Windows and Mac. It opens your .pub files natively, so you keep editing the newsletters, bulletins, flyers, and programs you already have, page for page, without Publisher installed. Microsoft removed Publisher from Microsoft 365 on October 1, 2026, and support for the perpetual versions ends October 13, 2026.
The PubKeep desktop app is available now. On Windows, get it from the Microsoft Store or pubkeep.com. On Mac, download it from pubkeep.com. It keeps the tools Publisher users rely on: text boxes, master pages, fold-over booklets, tables, Word Art, calendars, mail merge from Excel or CSV lists, printing, and PDF export. Edited files save to PubKeep's open .pubk format.
Pricing: buy once, no subscription. $99 for one computer or $159 for two, with 5 and 10 computer volume licenses for churches, schools, and offices. Every new user gets a 7-day free trial.
PubKeep Converter, a separate web tool, bulk-converts a whole folder of .pub files into exact PDFs, page for page and font for font, so an archive stays readable. The first 3 files are free, then one-time credit packs that never expire.
Built for churches, nonprofits, schools, families, and small businesses that have run on Publisher for years and don't want to lose their files or relearn everything. PubKeep is made by Saint Systems and is not affiliated with Microsoft.

PubKeep Opens Complex Publisher Files Flawlessly, with Outstanding Developer Support"
The fact that it does an amazing job handling complicated Microsoft Publisher files is a big deal for me. The developer is the most knowledgeable and responsive software developer I have ever tested beta software for. Even as it moved from a limited beta to version 1, the developer addressed bugs and feature enhancements in real time, which has made me much more productive with the many old and new Publisher documents I work with. I reviewed alternatives to Publisher, like Libre, which can open .PUB files but has many issues with complicated documents. Canva also isn’t very friendly for casual users, or for people who don’t do desktop publishing for a living. I got involved in looking for a replacement for Publisher because our church bulletin is created using Publisher. The person who does the bulletin each week is in her late 70s and has a hard time even editing existing weekly bulletins for the current week; starting from scratch for her would be impossible. The fact that every document our church uses opened flawlessly after a few beta bugs were dealt with is a testament to the quality of this solution. The fact that a 1 time $99 fee per seat or $395 for 5 seats makes it a bargain for replacing Publisher. This is a lifetime license with free updates for the first year. Even though it is separate from the Microsoft Office 365 suite, it fully integrates "mail merge" functionality, which was a very nice, unexpected feature that the other solutions I evaluated did not support. Almost forgot: the fact that it supports the Apple environment is an added plus for Apple users. I have not found any reasons not to use PubKeep as a replacement for Publisher. It provides full support for migrating Microsoft .PUB files, with little to no need to edit the original document after it’s imported into the tool’s environment.
Easy to bulk save files AND the app is most like publisher!!!
