What is PlotForge?

PlotForge Desktop is a local-first novel writing application for indie authors and fiction writers. All manuscripts are stored locally in SQLite databases on your machine. AI features run locally through Ollama or LM Studio, so brainstorming, character development, and scene polishing never leave your computer.

Eleven integrated tools cover the full novel workflow: Idea Board, Outline with emotional arc visualization, Characters with psychology profiles, Worldbuilding with six element types, Draft Editor with focus mode, AI Chat (talk to your characters), Story Compass with structure templates (Save the Cat, Hero's Journey, Three-Act, Freytag), Consistency Checker, Timeline, Sessions tracker, and Exports.

Imports directly from Scrivener (.scriv), Word, Markdown, and text. Exports to DOCX, PDF, EPUB, and TXT with manuscript presets.
