Well, the UI of digiKam is a torture. Using it after Picase is like going from UI back to command line. It's packed with features, yes, but UI overcomplicated far beyond what is necessary. Tabs on top, tabs on the left, tabs on the right, and yes, each window section can also have tabs...
It plays motion Gifs, and has the functionality I was looking for after Picasa as a program on my computer, not on google servers
