PhotoTaken is a desktop culling app for photographers working through large shoots. It handles the stage between the memory card and the editor: reviewing every frame, marking keepers, and handing them off.
Ingest copies from the card to two drives at once and verifies both before the card is pulled. RAW and JPEG pairs are treated as a single shot, staying together through renames and moves. Video clips appear in the same contact sheet as stills.
Focus peaking, highlight and shadow clipping warnings, and a histogram are available in both the full-size viewer and the thumbnail grid. For RAW files these read the demosaiced sensor data rather than the camera's embedded preview.
Ratings, color labels, captions and the full IPTC field set are written to standard XMP, embedded for JPEG and TIFF and as sidecars for RAW, so they travel to any editor. Metadata search covers camera body, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter, focal length and date with no catalog and no import step.
Other features include compare view for two to four frames, batch rename with templates, EXIF editing, reusable metadata templates, export with watermarking, and DNG conversion.
