What is Cullstack?

Cullstack is a photo culling and management app for photographers working through large shoots. One license covers Mac, Windows and Linux.

The distinguishing idea is that you cull in place. Cullstack browses local drives, network shares, WebDAV, SFTP, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Photos and iCloud, and lets you rate, flag, tag, rename and delete directly on those sources. There is no import step, no catalog to build, and no need to pull everything onto one machine before you can start sorting.

The culling toolkit covers star ratings and pick or reject flags, color labels, per-file comments, a full-screen culling mode that advances automatically as you rate, a compare mode, stacks with both manual and automatic grouping, tags and hierarchical keywords, smart collections, and a duplicate finder that can act on what it finds rather than only reporting it.

AI features run entirely on your own machine. No image is uploaded and no cloud service is involved. They include semantic search in plain language, face detection, grouping by face identity, closed-eye detection for spotting blinks across a shoot, blur and quality flagging, NSFW flagging, and detection of AI-generated images. Auto-stack can group by visual similarity, by capture-time burst, or by who is in the frame. The models are optional downloads, so only the ones you use take up space.

For photographers who move between tools, Cullstack reads and writes XMP sidecars, so ratings and keywords carry across to Lightroom, Bridge and Photo Mechanic.

It views RAW from most cameras alongside JPEG, HEIC, TIFF, PSD, WebP and PNG, and plays H.264, H.265, ProRes, AV1 and VP9 video. Other tools include a privacy scan with EXIF and GPS scrubbing, template renaming, an export pipeline, an IPTC editor, and Live Ingest for tethered and Wi-Fi hot-folder import.

Licensing is annual with perpetual use rights rather than a subscription. A license includes every update released during its term, and if you choose not to renew you keep your last licensed version working indefinitely. The free tier does not expire and needs no account.
