What is PearList?

PearList is a shared shopping and chore list for a whole household, with no account for anyone and nothing to pay, ever. You join a space by scanning a QR code instead of typing someone's email address and waiting for them to sign up and accept.

That is the friction this is aimed at. Shared list apps normally need every member to create an account, and many put the sharing itself, or the recipe import, or the calendar, behind a paid tier that can be narrowed later. PearList has no accounts and no pricing page, and it cannot grow one, because there is no server whose cost has to be recovered from somebody.

Items are sorted into store aisles as you add them, on the phone, with no network request.

One space holds many lists. Anyone in it can add, check off, rename, assign and delete items, and every change syncs to everyone. Items take quantities, notes and store links, and assigning an item or a whole list to a person turns any list into a shared chore board.

Lists replicate directly between the devices in a space, with every change signed by the device that made it. Both devices need to be online at the same time to sync, and iOS pauses background sync, so an all-iPhone household syncs while someone has the app open.
