The Parted Magic OS employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful programs (e.g. Partition Image, TestDisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, and ddrescue) and an excellent set of documentation to benefit the user. An extensive collection of fileystem tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs.
Parted Magic requires at least a PII processor and 400MB of RAM to operate or 128MB in "Live" mode.
Disk Partitioning
PartedMagic has the tools to get the job done. With the Partition Editor you can re-size, copy, and move partitions. You can grow or shrink your C: drive. Create space for new operating systems. Attempt data rescue from lost partitions.
Disk Cloning
Clone a computer’s entire disk or a single partition. The cloned data could be saved as an image-file or as a duplicated copy of the data. The data could then be saved to a locally attached storage device, an SSH server, a Samba Server, or a Network File System share. The clone file can then be used to restore the original when needed.
Data Rescue
PartedMagic allows you to easily reset or change Windows passwords. Recover lost files. Rescue files from devices with disk read errors.
Disk Erasing PartedMagic comes with easy to use solutions for conventional overwrite. Internal Secure Erase. Wiping of only Free Space.
Benchmarking
All the benchmarking tools you would ever need! Bonnie++, IOzone, Hard Info, System Stability Tester, mprime, and stress.

I still use this software even after Patrick put up what was then a controversial paywall. I'd like to see a true alternative come about but that may take more work than other people are willing to put in.

Your wish has come true. I have created an easy-to-use live environment called Rescuezilla, which includes a graphical application fully interoperable with Clonezilla named Rescuezilla.
It's free and open-source (licensed under GPLv3). Of course, the Parted Magic author can integrate the software into his application as long as he is operating accordance with the GPLv3 licensing. Development of Rescuezilla is funded by supporters on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/rescuezilla

Thanks rescuezilla. Right now it appears as though your OS and tools are minimal with a focus on an easy-to-use Clonezilla interface. I'll have to create a vm and play with this.

Yes, you're right. Rescuezilla is indeed far more minimal than Parted Magic.
I think Rescuezilla is a useful alternative for the many users who just want Parted Magic to act as a quick and easy live USB to run GParted, Clonezilla and a web browser.
At this stage I am not intending including all the applications available in Parted Magic, because it would grow the Rescuezilla ISO image from ~700MB to Parted Magic's 2.6GB. But I am happy to include the applications that users find most useful.

That's a fair stance and one I support. I want other users to recognize what rescuezilla is meant for on first glance. Good luck!

Thanks! You raised a fair point!

Author of this 'software' is very bad-behaved, he cursed people who used his Parted Magic for free but refused to pay for next releases and switched to open products like GParted. Normal people respect others' choice and don't behave agressively like author of this 'software'. So, don't use this 'tool'. God knows what kind of hidden malware could such (unethic guy) add to next releases. Also, all included tools are free, this (unethic guy) is just selling opensource freeware in nice-painted box under name 'Parted Magic' (with is clearly reference to Partition Magic). I wonder why Symantec doesn't sue this thief for stealing their trademark and changed few letters to make 'brand new' name. [2 stars because this at least works, -3 stars because of selling free stuff under partitially stolen name]
Yes, the power of parted magic is the suit of tools (gparted is the principal but... the rest of tools are very utils)
A must have tool for any IT tech. It works reliably and easy to use. Uses a bootable disk that works in any environment. I used on XP and no problems. Highly recommend. Plus it has other tools that are successful. Gparteded I think is virtually the same with less tools.
