Nucube is a music player for collectors. One app on desktop and mobile, built for music you own.
Runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, Android and iOS (iPhone and iPad). No Nucube server. No box to buy. Files are never moved, renamed, or retagged.
Sources
Point it at folders on disk, SMB and NFS shares on a NAS, or a DLNA server. One scan builds the library. The same album on two sources stays one album.
Playback
Play on device, or stream to a UPnP renderer with OpenHome on your network. Nucube speaks OpenHome, the UPnP extension that keeps the queue on the renderer. Your mobile device can sleep and the album keeps playing. Renderers with plain UPnP AV only are not supported yet. One output at a time.
Desktop first
The scan and the library build run on Linux, macOS, or Windows. Sync the library to your phone or tablet over the LAN: metadata, not audio files. After the sync, the desktop can be off. On mobile, play over the network, or download albums for offline listening. You pick the files; the originals stay where they are.
Details for the collector
- Album-first: browse albums and artists, not file trees.
- Automated MusicBrainz matching for metadata and cover art.
- Gapless playback on device and on OpenHome renderers.
- Fast, local search-as-you-type. Playback queue and history.
- Dark and light themes.
- Full data ownership: export, backup, restore.
Quiet by design
No signup, no tracking, no ads, no discover feed. Search returns what you own.
Not the right fit if
- You want a streaming catalog instead of the files you own.
