NoTer Alternatives
NoTer is described as 'The idea is to create a simple and good looking terminal for being able to transmit to and from electronic boards and hardware. It can be configured to show data in hex or string format. It allows manual configuration of the port to use' and is an app. There are nine alternatives to NoTer for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Windows, Mac, BSD and PortableApps.com. The best alternative is PuTTY, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like NoTer are YAT - Yet Another Terminal, RealTerm, CuteCom and picocom.
NoTer alternatives are mainly Terminal Emulators but may also be SSH Clients. Filter by these if you want a narrower list of alternatives or looking for a specific functionality of NoTer.- Free • Open Source

PuTTY is a free and open-source terminal emulator, serial console and network file transfer application. It supports several network protocols, including SCP, SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw socket connection. It can also connect to a serial port.
Engineering, testing and debugging of serial communication. Supports RS-232/422/423/485 as well as TCP/IP Client/Server/AutoSocket, UDP/IP Client/Server/PairSocket and USB Ser/HID. Optimized for simple command sets of e.g. embedded systems.
RealTerm is a terminal program specially designed for capturing, controlling and debugging binary and other difficult data streams. It is far better for debugging comms than HyperTerminal. It has no support for dialing modems, BBS, etc. - that is what HyperTerminal does.
CuteCom is a graphical serial terminal aimed mainly at hardware developers or other people who need a terminal to talk to their devices.
Discontinued
The project is no longer developed. Last version, 0.22.0, released in June 2009, can be still downloaded from the official website. It does not support terminal type emulation.
picocom is a minimal dumb-terminal emulation program. It is ideal for embedded systems since its memory footprint is minimal (less than 20K, when stripped).
