What is NewPipe?
NewPipe is a lightweight 
YouTube front-end for Android. Also 
YouTube Music . Beta support for 
SoundCloud , 
Bandcamp , and 
PeerTube etc. It's FLOSS (Open source).
No YouTube account required. It doesn't need the YouTube API or any Google Play Services, as NewPipe only parses the YouTube in order to gain the information. Therefore this app can be used on devices without Google Services installed. NewPipe Extractor is used by other apps for this purpose.

I use it for 3 months and it's great: Pros:

My usecase: at first I open youtube video page in browser (from articles, from recommendations, etc), at second, I just open link in application
Now it supports trend but no recommendations
ive tried new pipe 3 times on 2 diff devices and it just. doesnt. work. recommending videos doesnt work, moving past subscriptions doesnt work, searching up videos doesnt work, PLAYING videos doesnt work. for me, all the interfaces are blank, videos always get stuck in infinite loading loops, ive only have one actually play something ONCE and of course it loaded 3 seconds of content at a time with 30 secs- 5 mins of load times inbetween. if the problem is me or if ive skipped a step, then tell me and ill delete this, but even with this possibility, it shouldn't be so hard to do literally anything on here from the get go.
Better than youtube in every aspect.
I like NewPipe because it's a free, Open Source and privacy respecting alternative to Youtube
NewPipe is a fantastic, privacy-focused FLOSS frontend for YouTube. Right now, it offers even a better experience than paying for YouTube Premium.
Lightweight, supports background playback, video downloads. Miniplayer is just a nuisance unless you're using it on a tablet. Seemed to be easily broken by changes made by google relative to other youtube players.
I can't even explain how goofy I feel when someone catches me getting excited over this app. I still get excited every time I open it a few weeks after discovering it, and I'm not someone who is easily impressed, let alone excited. The fact that I now have almost (if not all) of the YouTube Premium BS for free..... playing music in the background with my screen off!!! That was really what I wanted, the ability to download is an extra bonus I'm incredibly happy with. I love it and I would recommend this app to any and everyone, especially anyone who hates playing for subscriptions... though, I'm not sure what it is about free stuff that makes me want to donate to the cause whatever I'm able so much more.
