It is a pure command line email client
mutt is a command line email client
More modern features while still bein completely contained on the command line, Mutt is a very good alternative to Alpine.

It's a classic. I've been using it off and on since probably about '96 or '97 after when I first discovered Linux. It's a gorgeous, awesome and surprisingly powerful mail application. For those of you too young (or those who just haven't gotten into Linux or even Windows shell/batch/command prompt scripting and UI/UX, the command line and TUI's (Text User Interfaces) can be even more powerful and flexible, as well as easier to use and more efficient than the most fany GUI. x)
