Movie recommendation tools, by how they actually decide
Every tool here answers the same question — what should I watch tonight? — but they disagree about who gets to decide.
Some predict a score for you specifically, from your own ratings. Some show you a crowd average. Some only tell you where a film is streaming. That difference is not cosmetic: once your taste drifts from the average, a popularity feed and a personalised predictor start recommending completely different films.
Ordered roughly from "models you" to "models everyone" to "does not model taste at all". Several do more than one job; each is placed by the thing it does best. Not a ranking — they are good at different things.

There´s a lot of movie reccomendations sites created of the years but there´s only one that really works: MovieLens! Also the new design makes it even better for it to be our Movies Home =)
Movielens is a great movie recommendation website unlike some other obviously sponsored websites Downside tho is they don't recommend shows And I feel like the whole 5 stars rating thing is too small of a number to allow me to accurately rate movies relative to how good some other movies are I also feel that the recommendation algorithm prefers dramas a little too much compared to other genre's
Movie lens is my favorite of the various move rating databases. It has a few algorithms to help you choose the next movie to watch, and they don't delete ratings like others such as Rotten Tomatoes.
The one problem they need to work on is that it is only for movies, and not television series.
it just seems more fun to play with than any of the other movie databases I've played with.
MovieLens does not have TV shows.
