macOS 15/26 massive ram leaks and slow performance. Transferring 1GB of files over SMB used 9GB of ram and kept that ram used until Mountain Duck was restarted. It was also 1/10th the speed of native SMB. Trying to use it to sync backups to Backblaze was worse. Sync 5GB of data used 49GB of ram. This is a known issue from 2022 that is still unfixed in 2026. Edit/update: They did refund me so that's a major + for the company so I updated this to remove comments about company trustworthiness and added a star. Though it is still worth noting that there is no official refund policy so I do stand by my advice to take full advantage of the trial period before buying. If you do try it, don't impulse buy because of a good first impression and light testing/usage. Stress test it.

Excellent, reliable software. Multiple methods of connection (SFTP, FTP-SSL, WebDAV and popular cloud providers). Integrates with Cryptomator, automatically opening vaults.

Versatile and robust, fast. And competitive pricing.

What is Mountain Duck?

Mountain Duck lets you mount server and cloud storage as a disk in Finder on macOS and the File Explorer on Windows. Open remote files with any application and work like on a local volume.

View all files on your remote storage regardless if synced to your computer. Files are synchronized to your local disk when opened to allow offline usage.

Work Offline Select files and folders to always keep offline on your computer. Other files are downloaded and cached on demand only and otherwise do not take space on your local disk.

Sync Progress Changes are uploaded in the background as soon as a connection is available.

Cryptomator Vaults Transparent client-side encryption using Cryptomator interoperable vaults. Encryption for data at rest prevents unauthorized access regardless of the server or cloud storage infrastructure.

Solid Foundation Based on the solid open source foundation of Cyberduck, all major protocols are supported to connect to just about any server you want. FTP

A widely tested FTP (File Transfer Protocol) implementation for the best interoperability with support for FTP over secured SSL/TLS connections. SFTP

With support for strong ciphers, public key and two factor authentication. Read settings from your existing OpenSSH configuration. WebDAV

With interoperability for ownCloud, box.com, Sharepoint and BigCommerce and many other WebDAV servers. TLS mutual (two-way) authentication with client certificate.

Rackspace Cloudfiles or any other OpenStack Swift cloud storage providers. Amazon S3 Google Cloud Storage Azure Backblaze B2 Google Drive Dropbox OneDrive
