Monitorable

Hosted Linux server monitoring installed with one command and an open-source OpenTelemetry Collector agent. It sends standard OTLP metrics over HTTPS for host resources, Docker containers, systemd services and bare-metal SMART disks, with quiet alerts.

What is Monitorable?

Monitorable is a hosted server monitoring service for teams running dedicated or cloud Linux servers. A single command installs a lightweight agent, and there is nothing to host or maintain on the monitoring side.

The agent is open source (Apache-2.0) and is a real OpenTelemetry Collector distribution, so metrics leave the server as standard OTLP. It ships as one static binary (about 47 MB on disk, 12–16 MB of memory). It only pushes metrics out over HTTPS: no inbound ports, no remote commands, and it does not read logs or files. It supports x86-64 and ARM64 on bare metal, VMs and LXC containers.

What it monitors:

  • Host metrics: CPU, load, memory, swap, disk usage and I/O, network and temperatures, every 60 seconds
  • Docker containers: state, health checks, restarts, CPU and memory per container, detected automatically
  • systemd services: failed units, restart loops and resource use per service
  • Physical disks: SMART health, wear, new errors and reallocated sectors on bare metal

Alerting is built to stay quiet until something needs a person. Thresholds are averaged over a window and must hold for two checks in a row, reminders are capped, a flapping condition stays one incident, and acknowledging an alert stops the noise. A server that stops reporting raises its own alert after five minutes, and it shows as a different state from a server that is down. There are 19 rule types (12 on by default), and alert templates can be applied per server. Notifications go to email, Slack, Telegram, Discord, PagerDuty, ntfy and webhooks.

The platform runs on servers in the EU (France). Sign-in is with GitHub, Google or an email link, and organizations support team members. Plans have flat monthly prices: the free tier covers up to 3 servers, and paid plans add more servers, longer retention, more channels and more team seats.
