What is Minutehand?

Minutehand is a minimalist macOS menu-bar app for people who already work inside an AI agent. It records meetings, mic plus system audio, so no bot joins the call the way Otter or Fireflies do, and it works with Zoom, Meet, Teams or a conversation across a table.

Audio is transcribed through your own Deepgram key (new sign-ups get $200 of free credit, over 300 hours), and the result is a plain Markdown transcript filed into a folder on your Mac, with the meeting title, date, duration and attendees written into the top of the file.

Unlike Granola or Otter, Minutehand writes no summary. Claude or ChatGPT already hold your context and write a better one than any meetings app could. Minutehand's whole job is making sure they get the transcript.

It lives entirely in the menu bar: no Dock icon, no main window. Connect your calendar and it will see a meeting coming and offer to record it, so nothing goes unrecorded because you forgot. Recordings delete themselves after a retention window you set; transcripts stay, because they are just files in a folder you own.
