Trace turns your meetings, and any other audio playing on your Mac, into clean markdown transcripts. Everything happens on the device. No cloud, no account, no bot in your calls.

Press the hotkey whenever you want to start. Trace captures your microphone and the audio coming out of whatever app you're in, so Zoom, Teams, Meet and Slack all work the same way. Stop recording and a local speech model transcribes the session in seconds, then copies it to your clipboard as markdown you can paste into Notion, Obsidian, your AI assistant of choice or wherever your notes live.

When something important comes up, press ??K, type a quick note, and hit Enter. Trace pins it to the transcript at the exact second it happened, so your future self, your teammates, or any AI assistant you later paste it into see exactly what mattered.

CATCH UP WITHOUT LEAVING THE CALL

Missed the last point? Press ??? and the floating pill grows into a live transcript of the last two minutes, with your flagged moments marked inline. Read back, dismiss it, and stay in the conversation.

WHAT ELSE IT DOES

• Tells speakers apart. Every participant gets their own label in the final transcript. • Works with your Calendar if you want it to. Recordings pick up the event title automatically, and a quiet reminder shows up a minute before a meeting and offers to record. Opt-in, read-only, and off until you switch it on. • Keeps a quiet list of every session in the menu bar. Copy, reveal in Finder, or reopen one without changing apps. • Runs from the keyboard. Recording, flagging, recap, pause and hide all have shortcuts, and you can remap any of them. • Saves every session to an ordinary Finder folder as plain audio and markdown. Move them into your notes, keep them in git, or delete them. They're yours.

WHY IT ALL STAYS ON YOUR MAC

Trace runs a fast speech model locally. No servers, no API keys, no accounts, no telemetry. Your audio and transcripts never touch a machine you don't own. macOS asks for Microphone and System Audio Recording permission so Trace can hear both sides of a call. It never captures video or your screen.
