Recordist is a desktop app compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux. It records calls and generates notes from them on your computer. It prompts for recording consent when a microphone is activated on meeting apps like Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, or Slack. The app records your microphone and computer's sound separately and transcribes the call. It provides a summary, decisions, open questions, and action items and can link to an Ollama server, Anthropic, or OpenAI-compatible key.
The app's search feature allows you to find specific sentences across your meetings. It also provides a Prep Brief before calendar meetings, showing previous decisions and open tasks. Meetings can be exported to various formats including Markdown, text, SRT, VTT, or JSON.
The Privacy Ledger feature details the app's requests, including the host, purpose, and bytes sent. There is no Recordist account. An open-source gateway allows assistants like Claude Desktop and Cursor to access your meetings locally.
Recordist requires Apple silicon and macOS 14.6 or later on Mac, and its Windows and Linux versions are still in preview. The Free plan offers unlimited recording, transcription, and search, with 3 AI notes a month. The Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial. For better notes, a computer with 16 GB memory or your own API key is recommended.
