Comment summary: MediaMonkey is appreciated for its robust music library management, tagging, and organization features. Users highlight its superiority in managing large collections compared to iTunes and other players, and the Gold version's additional offerings like on-the-fly conversion. However, some criticisms focus on its Windows exclusivity, interface, and occasional playlist syncing issues. Despite minor issues, the positive reviews underscore its comprehensive capabilities and frequent updates.

It lets me organise all my MP3 music

Ok, so I love MediaMonkey - I've been using it for several years ...I have a huge media library and it works great from my laptop ... HOWEVER .... when i put playlists on my phone, they often don't play, saying "skipping inaccessible tracks" when the same tracks play in MM on my PC. It's annoying enough that I'm considering changing to something different - I just want to be able to put playlists on my phone and have them work! I'm hesitant to change bc I tried itunes once and it was atrocious. Any recommendations?

Even I'm years late, if you would like to have the probably most versatile audio player out there use foobar2000. Out of the box, there are better looking players, but it has some very functional and good-looking skins, or you can modify it yourself and make it a starship sailing the heavens.

MusicBee is much better looking, also versatile, and you can use other skins on it, but it's not that versatile.

And there are a lot more, use the site you are currently on to discover them ...

I love MediaMonkey, and bought Gold, but one thing I hate about it is the interface. I can find no good themes, and disabling skinning makes it worse! I just want something with the beautiful simplicity of Foobar2000 while keeping all of the power of MediaMonkey.

Also, it randomly crashes when switching between virtual desktops in Windows 10, so that's fun. It's not consistent, but that's what triggers the crash.

I love MediaMonkey, it's one of those apps that's on my "one day, I'll purchase it" list. It supports addons, it's got a built-in powerful automatic file sorting mechanism where you can simply set up the pattern you want for your unorganized files and automatically rename and/or move them to the folders you want using variables.

I love this app and I hope you will too!

Have been using it for years, and don't intend to change that. I only wish they'd release updates to support new iOS versions quicker :D

I primarily manage my media with a folder based structure. Eventually I would like MM to crawl that structure and use it as-is not messing around with my files but extending the filtering and other capabilities.

Will it mess or even use my folders?

Thank you

DillonSylvestre

Nope. Mediamonkey will only reorganize your folders if you specifically ask it to.

I've been using it for years, even after I made the switch back to Mac. I paid for and run Parallels Desktop so that I can run two things that are only available in Windows but are irreplaceable and necessary. One of them is MediaMonkey. The Gold license is well worth it.

I've been saying that for years: the biggest problem about MediaMonkey is that once you start using it, you can never ever go back to using any other software =) you'd be frustrated after half an hour because you already desperately miss 50 features!

I have been using Media monkey for about 1 year. The only thing better than media monkey is JRiver Media Center. They engineered the software for Multicore processors. I can reencode 6 songs at one time. Tagging it easier. You give that a try. Media Monkey right now because I got my library straight.

This is what I install on a new computer. Strong preference towards free and open source software. Hand picked.
