What is Linglass?
Linglass is a language-learning toolkit that turns the videos you already watch into immersive lessons. It shows dual subtitles — the original language and your translation at the same time — on YouTube and Netflix, and lets you learn from real, native content instead of textbook drills.
What it does:
- Dual subtitles on YouTube and Netflix, perfectly synced side by side.
- Click any word or phrase for an instant, context-aware translation (powered by DeepL), IPA phonetic transcription, and text-to-speech pronunciation.
- AI grammar explanations — ask why a sentence is built the way it is and get a clear, LLM-powered breakdown.
- AI auto-subtitles for videos that have no captions at all — smart segmentation and AI translation generate them for you.
- Save words as flashcards and review them with a built-in FSRS spaced-repetition system so they actually stick.
- Discover — a curated catalog of videos scored by difficulty (CEFR / JLPT / HSK / TOPIK and more) so you always find content at your level.
Languages you can learn: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean — with contextual translation available across many more.
Where it runs: Chrome, Edge, and Yandex Browser (extension), the web app at linglass.app, and iOS. Android is on the way.
