Piccard information
What is Piccard?
Piccard is a Chrome extension plus a web app for learning English vocabulary from YouTube. The extension is the capture side: clicking a word in a subtitle or on a page creates a flashcard with the definition from a built-in offline dictionary, pronunciation in IPA, a difficulty level, the sentence the word appeared in, and a generated image as a memory hook. The web app is the review side: saved words go into browser-based spaced repetition, so you can review your cards on a phone or any device, not only on the computer where you saved them. No account is needed to start, and the dictionary lookup in the extension works offline. Word lookup is tuned for speakers of Korean, Chinese and Japanese in addition to English.
