The encryption key is derived from your master password using a key derivation function - meaning even if someone gets hold of your vault file, the contents are unreadable without the password. Windows Hello (fingerprint, PIN, or face recognition) provides a convenient second unlock layer without weakening the underlying encryption. Biometric data never leaves your device.
