What is Lalabase?

Lalabase is an open source project tool for software agencies, freelancers and small software companies that work on projects for clients. It replaces the usual mix of ticket tool, wiki, time tracking and reporting spreadsheets.

Features:

  • Clients and projects: one organisation per client, any number of projects. Clients get their own access, and roles decide what they see.
  • Tickets as a list or a board, with your own statuses, priorities and fields per project.
  • Time tracking per ticket, each session billable on its own, with exports for the invoice.
  • Notes and documents in the project. A folder in your GitHub or GitLab repository can become the project's docs.
  • Meetings with transcript, AI summary and the tasks that follow from it.
  • AI assistant that answers one question across tickets, docs, time and meetings, and shows its sources.
  • The AI is off until you switch it on. You choose the provider: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini (Vertex AI in the EU), Mistral, IONOS, OVHcloud or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including a model in your own network.
  • MCP server and REST API: connect Claude, Cursor or your own agent with a personal access token.
  • User interface in English and German.

Free to self-host under AGPL-3.0 with Docker Compose, or hosted in Germany as a paid cloud service. Built with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL and Hotwire. In production for customers since September 2025.
