What is Jellyfin?
Jellyfin is a Free Software Media System that puts you in control of managing and streaming your media. It is an alternative to the proprietary Emby and Plex, to provide media from a dedicated server to end-user devices via multiple apps. Jellyfin is descended from Emby's 3.5.2 release and ported to the .NET Core framework to enable full cross-platform support. There are no strings attached, no premium licenses or features, and no hidden agendas: just a team who want to build something better and work together to achieve it. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining us in our quest!

Comments and Reviews
Jellyfin a wonderful alternative to Plex and Emby and is completely FREEEEEEEEEE Thats right FREEEEEEEEEE
The media server solution your whole family will love! Might not be perfect, but plugins and a bit of customization truly makes it better than any streaming platform. Just remember to pay for quality content, artists deserves retribution.
Have been using it for years, across many platforms; Both for hosting and watching. Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, LG's WebOS. It Just Works, which is the highest praise, imo. No bloat, no privacy-invading trackers, and customizable with plug-ins. Free and open source. Plex is nothing but a distant, terrible memory now. I cannot recommend Jellyfin enough! Edit: I use it for audio books as well, with the iOS app 'Plappa'.
Jellyfin is awesome, open-source, and works great across many devices. BE YOUR OWN NETFLIX.
We use it in-browser, the Android and iOS app, and on Roku and it rarely lets us down.
Works on my AM4 PC. Not on my Android media console. It barely launched anything. Needs more power. I removed the client from it.
Requires a server to start playing media. Can't use this android app on a device that has movies and songs saved on the internal storage/filesystem to play that media, it requires pairing with a host first. Yuck.
Expecting that a software does something that it's not designed for is very irrational.
Been using Jellyfin for my family for a year now with no issues. Works flawlessly on my mobile devices and LG Smart TV.
