Comments about Xtreme Download Manager as an Alternative to Internet Download Manager
Comment summary: Xtreme Download Manager (XDM) is largely seen as a strong alternative to Internet Download Manager (IDM). Users appreciate that XDM is free and open-source while offering similar download functionalities such as multisegment downloading and acceleration. Some users note its capability to download from multiple sites like IDM. However, a few issues like not preserving file names and occasional failures on certain sites exist. Improvements are desired to match IDM closely.Top Positive CommentMost Recent CommenthomosapienVideo grabber sucks. Make it like Eagleget browser video grabber. Show found videos on browser addon's logo at browser toolbar. That would be very nice touch.
It has download speed that very similar to IDM. It can grab and download videos. But as an opensource non-profit project, it has bugs in video grabber. And video grabbing not good as like as IDM.
The best IDM alternative was EagleGet but it's discontinued. So now, XDM is the best alternative.
WinchesterDanny..in my opinion, the latest stable version (7.xx) is better than the beta version (8.xx) , faster download, no lags, no crashes, faster response, add to that the GUI interface looks much better than the beta version..BUT in general, I'm not gonna rise my hand and agree that this OS-IDM is equal to / better than IDM, still lacks a lot of features and needs some improvements...briefly, consider it as one of the best OS-IDM but definitely not the N°1 ...

Comments about DownThemAll as an Alternative to Internet Download Manager
Comment summary: DownThemAll is frequently praised for its capabilities as a browser extension that works well with Firefox, but some users note its limitations compared to Internet Download Manager (IDM), which functions independently of browsers. While DownThemAll is regarded as user-friendly with good plugin support and constant updates, criticisms include it being limited to a web extension and being outdated at times. IDM is recognized for its broader scope and functionalities such as pausing, resuming, and accelerating downloads.Top Positive CommentSpaceOctopusIt does everything IDM does, but more - and it can handle file hosters much better, specifically premium ones that require accounts, or multi-account ones. It's just a lot easier to use. It has a great browser add-on, works with youtube, plugins, including one for unpacking archives, and is updated constantly. It's also free! If you want the version that isn't bundled with stuff, do a search for it, it exists on their on forum :)
Top Negative CommentDownloadThemAll is just a Firefox extension while Internet Download Manager is a complete software that works on all browsers

I think that XDM is a very good alternative to IDM because it allows you to download videos on many sites other than YouTube (ENI platform, LinkedIn for example) like IDM does. On the other hand, IDM sometimes preserves the file name while XDM does not, which is annoying if you download a series of videos because you have to rename everything by hand. Translation FR OK.
