What is Inkwell Editor?
Inkwell is a native macOS screenplay editor built for writers who want help from AI without giving up control. Quill, the built-in assistant, brainstorms scenes, punches up dialogue, and catches when a character's voice drifts. Every suggestion arrives as a diff you approve or reject. Nothing is ever written into your script automatically, and your words stay yours.
The full editor is free. That includes unlimited scripts, industry-standard formatting, a beat board for outlining, revision tracking, sides generation, and clean import/export for Fountain, Final Draft (.fdx), and PDF. It works fully offline; the internet is only needed when you ask Quill a question. A free iOS companion app, Inkwell Reader, opens scripts and sides on iPhone and iPad.
Pro is $10 a month and only adds more AI credits. The editor is never paywalled.
