if i copy the the diagram from excel to inkscape, it's not vector any more. so i have to use illustrator to edit excel diagram

Save Excel as PDF. Then import from Inkscape.
Just saying.

Images render with CPU rather than GPU on Linux (Nvidia Quadro w/ propriety drivers) so it's painfully slow compared to Illustrator on Windows :/

Inkscape is a good software, but gets really slow when opening some more complicated files.

Has a good potential as an alternative to CorelDraw, but at the moment isn't much usable - very often crashes, poor skin and icons by default (yet you can replace GTK2 theme), all the nightmare of GTK2 (slow and misaligned UI, too wide sidebar in some localizations etc).

It's awesome. I don't know what I would do without it.

Note: I removed the tacky screenshot (why do people post crap like that?) and updated the logo

Incredible! Simple to use and crammed with features. Now all it needs is the ability to make .otf or .off fonts...

A comprehensive vector application but only works in X11 environment on a Mac; not natively. Here is a comparison with FreeHandMX:

I use it a lot to make levels for the game Xmoto. it does a really great job, and has a lot of nice features once you get used to it.

Best free vector editor available IMO. I just hate that it asks me to install X11 on my macbook I bought a year ago! For Windows and Linux, Inkscape all the way. For Mac, I think I'll just have to grab Illustrator.
