What is HopToDesk?
HopToDesk is a free, open source remote desktop application for Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, Android, iOS, Chrome OS and Raspberry Pi, plus a browser-based web client for everything else. It provides remote control, screen sharing, file transfer and live chat between any two devices, and all traffic is end-to-end encrypted, so no server operator, including HopToDesk itself, can see your screen, your files or your messages.
Connections work without port forwarding or firewall changes. Peers connect directly whenever the network allows it, and fall back to relays when it does not. The application is portable and needs no installation and no registration to make a connection. Unattended access, multi-monitor support, direct IP access, IP allow lists, SOCKS5 proxy support and Wake on LAN are all included, and the client ships in 43 languages.
HopToDesk is free for personal and commercial use, with no time limits and no commercial-use detection. The signal server is open source, so you can also self-host a private HopToDesk network on-premises or on Cloudflare Workers.
The optional HopToDesk Dashboard turns the free client into a managed platform: real-time device monitoring and alerts, unattended access across a fleet, session history, reports and session recording, a built-in help desk with a customer ticket portal, team roles and SSO, remote command execution, multi-tenant sub-accounts for MSPs, and white-label custom-branded clients. The Dashboard is free for the first three devices, with paid plans for larger fleets.

Comments and Reviews
A neat fully open-source and self-hostable remote desktop solution!
Edit: I've updated my review to 2 stars until the privacy and security of HopToDesk has been verified. RustDesk has my vote meanwhile.
Works just like that, out-of -the-box, no installation PORTABLE, good speed + good quality for a FREE version. The only concern right now (as of 2025-11-14) is the ownership, but hopefully it's just that, no deep involvement into the project
Lacking features existing in Teamviewer, multiple passwords and favorites sorting
It's a fork of RustDesk with it's own functionality added and some suspicious behaviors: https://github.com/rustdesk/rustdesk/discussions/1590

Beside being open sourced and having our code available publicly for all to see, plus being available and approved from Apple, Microsoft, AWS, Google, and other platforms, what more can we do to earn your trust?

I just started using this HopToDesk program after TeamViewer. For a number of reasons, I abandoned TeamViewer. You know, this program works very well for me personally, I have not found any significant drawbacks. I recommend trying and evaluating HopToDesk
