It's open source and free, and can integrate with many other services like NextCloud

If you do move from M$ Office then the learning curve with OnlyOffice is not that steep, as they try to emulate the style of Office. The tabbed interface between different types of usage (word processor, spreadsheet, etc) is pretty cool. While the feature parity with Microsoft not there, OnlyOffice is very capable and (in my view) pretty much on par with Google Docs, as it can also be connected with other cloud storage providers.

Maybe it used to be but now it's all a paid service. Even for personal use.

While I like and appreciate LibreOffice as an alternative desktop office suite, it does not fulfill the criteria for this alternative. It needs to provide an online collaboration experience, which it unfortunately doesn't provide today.

Peer-to-peer collaboration is on the roadmap, which I'm very eager to see implemented. More info here.

Not really an apples-apples comparison. A more direct alternative would be something like Microsoft Word online or Perhaps NextCloud with OnlyOffice

Like Google Docs, Nuclino allows users to collaborate on documents in real time, but instead of getting lost in folders, in Nuclino these documents are structured in a visual and easy-to-navigate way. It's like if every Trello card had its own Google Doc.
