What is gknowledge?

gknowledge implements Karpathy's LLM Wiki pattern as a native GTK 4 and Libadwaita desktop app. Drop in PDFs, Markdown or text files and it builds a linked wiki of entities, concepts and topics that is updated as new sources arrive, instead of re-reading your documents on every question.

It works fully offline with a built-in engine and no API key. For better synthesis you can connect Ollama, LM Studio, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or your existing ChatGPT plan, configured per project.

Every generated page records its sources, answers cite the pages they used, and a review queue holds changes the model is unsure about. The wiki is plain Markdown with YAML frontmatter and wikilinks, so the folder opens in Obsidian or any editor. A built-in MCP server lets coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor search, read and grow the same wiki.
