A very important Enigine to take into account to replace the vast majority of 2d and 3d engines, such as Unity 3d or Game Maker, for example. A superb Engine.

Gdevelop gives you a event-editor with which lets you describe your game's logic without writing a single line of code, it has piskel integrated in it which makes it extra easy to edit the spites. And of course, since it's open-source, it always gives us the best it can without having to 'upgrade the license'

Not truly open source it is more of a Freemium/Subscription deal. Platform export requires an account, which has 2 exports per day only on the free tier. The other tiers are 2 bucks/month for Indie and 7 bucks/month for Pro.

The source code is on github, I have not looked at the source code, maybe one could remove the limitations by setting up your own export server, but that is pure speculation.

However the version you can download from their website is very limited, keep that in mind.

Very good alternative, which ended up beating Game Maker, Construct 2 or Stencyl.
