Comments and Reviews
One of the best game engine for topclass AAA games. However may not be suitable for Indie games that have very few developers, artists, etc since it requires pretty much knowledge, experience and manpower.
The way their UI is set up allows me to create almost effortlessly. Truly one of the best to do it to this day. I love creating my little games on their system.
Powerful like no other, UE is simply the best engine when it comes to the graphical quality. However the codebase is old, the engine is very, very bloated, and you can tell that a lot of former design decisions weigh down heavily on UE. If you need the highest graphical quality, take UE, but for anything but the top quality, I would go with Godot, which is more modern, practical, with a better UI, and generally the same but easier to use and share projects on.
Graphics and ease of use, does not spy on you like Unity.
Intuitive UI and workflow, with a plethora of free assets and content available via asset packs and plugins made freely available. Blueprints system is a great node-based development workflow that can accomplish most things, if you're not comfortable with C++. Definitely things to be improved, but I think it's the most streamlined, feature packed free product you're going to find (even over Blender).
The source code is open but you don't have a free license like GPL or MIT, and are only allowed to use it if you agree to EPIC's proprietary license (That requires you to pay 5% of your earnings after you exceed $3k), not bad as an engine, but the license is a deal breaker for me.
Having made a game in this engine I can say that it is a good engine, I started with zero knowledge of Unreal Engine 4(I did have programming experience) but whenever I had a question I could go to the dedicated answerhub and ask my question for support.
The community is also cool, if you are making something cool, send a message to the community message and ask them to feature you, they feature a few games every other week.
The UI of the engine is confusing to begin with but once you get used to the UI it is decent.
