Frostpane

Frostpane gathers the icons on your Windows desktop into translucent panes you can move, roll up to their title, stack into tabs and sort by rule.

It blurs whatever is actually painting the desktop about ten times a second, so the glass follows Wallpaper Engine and other animated wallpapers instead of showing a flat colour, which is what Windows' own acrylic does over a moving wallpaper.

Features: folder portals that mirror any folder with real thumbnails, auto-sort rules by name wildcards or kind of file, sort by name, type, date or size, edge docking, peek on hover, Win+Alt+Space to lift every pane above your windows, named snapshots of the whole arrangement, lock panes, and Explorer's full context menu on every icon. Three glass recipes (glass, acrylic, frosted) with sliders for softness, brightness, saturation, grain, tint, corners, title bar and icon size.

Per-user install with no admin prompt, nothing injected into Explorer, icons always returned to the desktop on exit. No account, no telemetry. Paid once, every future version included.
