Everything that in foobar2000 needs to be done for hours to make, you can done in AIMP in a matter of seconds. I tried many different players, been using foobar2000 for a long time, but in the end I still switched back to AIMP. The most convenient and functional without unnecessary movements.

It's not as customizable as foobar. The latter can be hackeable to the point where you write a script that changes completely any single point of its UI.

Like Foobar2000, you can customize the interface as well as you want, it supports easily flac files and metadata edition. DeadBeef is the alternative and open source furthermore.

Very similar to foobar2000 but lacks a lot of refinements and details. Some hotkeys binding simply doesn't work. Cannot import/export theme and settings.

Very customizable, with a default GTK interface! Looks and runs great! Exactly what I wanted from a music player :)

If you are looking for a Linux program to do the same thing foobar2000 does, this is probably your best bet. Has a gui very reminiscent of fb2k, a similar plugin system bundled with it, and support for almost all video game music formats out of the box.

Very similar to foobar2000 minimalistic interface. There is also support for Winamp skins + its a open source software.

It is quite decent alternative: same interface type, cue sheet support, although missing some functions (I found lack of some conversion formats, which created a feeling of slight dampness of the application).

But overall it's good underrated app.

VUPlayer is simple and fast. UI is a little outdated, but who is looking at that while playing music? Have used it for years. Missing one important feature (to me): shuffle tracks.
