Flowplan is an open-source workspace that combines documents, databases, whiteboards, a daily journal, project tools and surveys in a page-tree structure. Its block editor supports Markdown shortcuts, tables, code, Mermaid diagrams, formulas and inline calculations. Databases offer table, board, calendar, timeline/Gantt, gallery, list, feed, chart, form and sprint views, along with relations, rollups and formulas. Whiteboards support sticky notes, connectors, mind maps and presentation mode; journal pages can include trackers and an optional PIN lock. Survey responses are stored as records.
Optional project features include tickets, sprints, burndown charts, automations and a Git connection. Collaboration includes live editing with cursors, comments, inline threads, mentions, suggested changes, expiring password-protected guest links and published pages. AI is disabled by default and can be enabled by administrators for specific features and people. It supports local Ollama models or user-provided OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini API keys, with page-access controls.
Flowplan is licensed under AGPL-3.0, without a separate closed enterprise edition or licence-key-gated features. It can be self-hosted in a single Docker container with SQLite, without PostgreSQL, Redis or an external search service. amd64 and arm64 images and a Kubernetes Helm chart are available, alongside a hosted version in Germany. Data can be imported from Notion, AppFlowy, Obsidian, Jira, Trello, CSV and HTML, and exported as Markdown with frontmatter, CSV or ZIP files, including scheduled exports to S3 or Git. Integrations include a REST API with an OpenAPI specification, TypeScript and Python clients, signed webhooks, an n8n node, an MCP server, two-way CalDAV and calendar subscriptions.
