Renaming files or folders can be very cumbersome, especially if you want to rename a high number of files. But it is not necessary to click on every single file individually, make some changes just to take the same procedure at the next file!.

It does exactly what I used Lupas Rename for. FileRenamer requires that each filename modification be done one at a time, where Lupas Rename lets me do multiple changes at once, but once I got the hang of it, FileRenamer works great.

Deceptively simple interface; then you check the Help menu and find it can do so much more than you thought at first. Might need to make a few notes about the options you might use most often but doesn't everyone do that with -some- software? Does the job quickly, and it's donation-ware so what's not to like?
Easy to use and works on Mac and Windows
I've just installed on Linux Mint and it made my day.
sophisticated renaming based on existing file names via regex and masks. can use file metadata regarding time (creation, modified etc).
there is ONE very special feature of this tool which I will keep it for. in mac OS, it allows the altering of "date created" to any arbitrary value. I looked for how to do this a while ago and the only solution I found was to change the clock on the computer to the target date, do the thing, and change the clock back. tres unsleek. I knew that couldn't be the only way to accomplish this. somehow this developer has done what no one else could do.
