    Fedora and Red Hat are made by many of the same people and are like brothers. Red Hat is like the commercial arm, aimed at corporate customers. Both are heavily reliant on open source and Fedora draws heavily on Red Hat development and its engineers. If you want a non-commercial Fedora alternative, OpenSuse is probably the closest thing.
