What is Eye Saver?
Free software for eye protection and more! It protects your eyes while you are working on computer. Eye Saver has three main functions:
- Blue light filter: filters out the harmful blue light emitted by the display and makes colors warm and easy on the eyes;
- No flickering: eliminates the invisible flickering of the display backlight, a cause of eye strain and headaches;
- Break timer: reminds you to take breaks and provides advice on maintaining good health in front of the computer;

It does exactly what I could not find in the others : using the other well-known screen dimmers that follow the daylight, I needed always to modify the light with the mouse. So I was trying to use them just as I use Eye Saver now : it is not the program that decides the light and colors for me, I adapt the settings from time to time when the lighting changes. Automatic processes often do not do exactly do what you are looking for. Eye saver let you manage light and colors to your liking, and it seems really good for the eyes.
My review is for 2.43 version. It is good, but one should be very careful with the built-in settings. For example, the "invert" option makes the screen slightly visible on my notebook. The same with the "hacker" mode and even with one of the "reading" modes - these modes increase contrast/brightness so much, that the reboot of the system may be required (I had to reboot after my screen got literally turned into extremely white sheet).
The rest is OK, it has very good settings for "Blue filter" and "Brightness". I have rated 4 stars, eliminating 1 star for the above-mentioned bugs.

I like it, very simple to use and customizable in the same time.
