Thanks for laying this out. I'm the developer, and part of it has changed since July.

DeskRipple 1.0 is out, so the paid version has shipped. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The price is shown at checkout, and every purchase can be refunded within 14 days.

The rest still holds. Without a license key, DeskRipple stops working on September 1, 2026; enter a key under Manager → About and there's no expiry. Removing an entry or uninstalling still restores your archived desktop shortcuts.

Beta testers do get 50% off with their founder code.

What is DeskRipple?

DeskRipple puts expandable folder icons directly on the Windows desktop. They sit alongside your regular desktop icons, open into shortcut panels on hover or click, and collapse to a single icon when the pointer moves away. Each folder can use one of five animated layouts: Grid, Column, Row, Fan, or a 360° Ring.

Users can add app shortcuts, web links, documents, and other files. DeskRipple stores its own copy of each shortcut, so entries keep working if the originals are moved, renamed, or deleted. When a desktop shortcut is dragged into a folder, DeskRipple can safely archive the original and restore it when the entry is removed or the app is uninstalled. Profiles switch the whole desktop between setups — work, gaming, or a clean layout for screen sharing — without rebuilding your folders. Per-monitor DPI support keeps folders aligned and sized correctly across displays.
