What is Dao Browser?
Dao Browser is a Chromium-based browser designed for focused, high-context browsing on macOS.
Instead of using a traditional horizontal tab strip, Dao Browser organizes your browsing around a calm vertical sidebar inspired by Arc. The sidebar can be resized or collapsed, while the main content area stays immersive with rounded corners, adaptive theming, and a minimal interface that keeps the web page at the center.
Dao Browser also includes an integrated AI Agent built into the browsing experience. Unlike a basic chat sidebar, the agent is designed to understand the current page, extract readable content, inspect page structure, interact with elements, navigate, and remember useful context across sessions. It supports tool calling, skills, long-term memory, proactive suggestions, and page-aware actions, making it useful for research, reading, automation, and complex web workflows.
Other Dao Browser features include a Spotlight-style command bar, enhanced Picture-in-Picture behavior, Split View foundations, a macOS-style Control Center, pinned favorites, tab folders, Chrome extension compatibility through its Chromium base, and Dao-branded internal pages.
Dao Browser is currently focused on macOS arm64 and is built for users who want a browser that feels quieter than Chrome, more organized than a standard tab bar, and more deeply AI-native than browsers that simply add a chatbot on the side.
