ChaosSearch specializes in data analytics and indexing solutions for large-scale cloud object storage environments. The company is innovating in data indexing and search, making it easier to access and analyze vast amounts of application telemetry data efficiently.

In this example, the search field was left empty to return all records in this very small data set like this example, which is a small orders table based on TPC-H data. ChaosSearch is designed to index data at scale including complex application logs, which means that an unbounded search for a longer time range could return billions of records. A free text search with no terms, or very common terms, could take a long time to return a set of results that could be too large to review easily.

What is ChaosSearch?

ChaosSearch offers products and services designed to help organizations make better use of their log and event data. The company's flagship product is a fully managed, cloud-native solution that enables users to search, analyze, and visualize application telemetry data stored in Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Platform.

Use cases include application observability, security analytics, product data analysis, and embedded analytics.

Key features of the ChaosSearch platform include:

  • Cost-Efficiency: ChaosSearch helps organizations reduce storage costs by eliminating the need to duplicate or move data in traditional data warehouses, and using cost-efficient cloud object storage.

  • Scalability: The platform is designed to scale with the user's data, enabling organizations to analyze and retain massive volumes of information without compromising performance.

  • Ease of Use: ChaosSearch allows users to search data using familiar tools such as OpenSearch and SuperSet dashboards, with native Elastic and Trino support, making it accessible to data analysts and engineers without the need for specialized training.

  • Security: The platform offers robust security features, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging, to protect sensitive data.

Replace or Complement Your Existing Stack ChaosSearch is an ideal replacement for Elasticsearch (ELK stack) or Opensearch. With ChaosSearch, customers can perform scalable log analytics on AWS S3 or GCS, using familiar APIs for queries, and Kibana for log analytics and visualizations, while reducing costs and improving analytical capabilities.

ChaosSearch helps customers centralize logs to extend retention and reduce their Datadog budget in one of two ways - Use only Datadog's monitoring tools, alongside ChaosSearch for centralized log management. Or, reduce Datadog’s log retention to three days and use ChaosSearch for unlimited retention, with a cost savings of approximately 40%.

ChaosSearch reduces security and observability costs for modern enterprises, replacing Splunk for long-term analysis. Customers can keep Splunk for key security workflows and centralize all other logs in ChaosSearch – achieving 50-80% savings with unlimited, long-term data retention.
