What is ChainBreaker?

ChainBreaker is a Windows self-control application designed to help users enforce decisions made in advance.

It can block websites and applications, set daily, weekly or monthly usage limits, schedule computer and Internet restrictions, automate shutdown or sleep, and apply monitor settings such as grayscale, brightness reduction and blue-light filtering.

Its distinctive feature is Cementing. Any individual rule can optionally be cemented after an explicit confirmation. A cemented rule cannot be casually edited, disabled or deleted. Releasing it early requires a separate deliberate action and a one-time micro-payment, adding friction between an impulse and breaking a previously made commitment.

ChainBreaker works locally on Windows, requires no user account, stores configuration and statistics in a local SQLite database, and does not use third-party analytics or trackers.

The application includes a 7-day free trial.
