Simple, no BS file hosting that's great for many different file types. On the downsides, the UI is a bit crap and it doesn't remember your filenames so sorting through uploaded files is a bit difficult. Additionally, it requires login to delete files, yet forgets my login after almost every visit so I have to be careful of not uploading anything sensitive while logged out.
Due to its youthful status, I would not trust Catbox with any files you may wish to keep several years down the line - many small file hosts go down after a year or two due to costs. But it works well at what it does and allows many more file types than other hosts (SVG, for instance) which can really come in handy for certain projects. I hope Catbox sticks around for a while.

What do you mean? Catbox does URL shortening as well as file hosting.
Oh, did you mean the alternatives being URL shorteners? I don't know why that is the case, since I think most people would indeed use Catbox for the file hosting aspect. I guess we could put a few image hosts as alternatives.
