What is CaseTrace?

CaseTrace is free, automatic time-tracking software for Windows, built for lawyers, accountants and consultants who bill by the hour. Instead of timers or manual entry, it passively logs the time you spend per case, client, folder and file — using the folder structure you already work in. You recover billable hours that would otherwise be lost, and get file-by-file documentation behind every invoice.

Key features: passive folder & file tracking (no clicks), time budgets per case with alerts at 25/50/75/100%, PDF/CSV/email reports ready for invoicing, automatic break detection, built-in Danish CVR company lookup, and local cloud backup you control.

Privacy-first: all data is stored locally in an open SQLite database. No telemetry, no account required, nothing leaves your machine — designed with lawyers' confidentiality in mind. Helps Danish businesses meet the Working Hours Act (Arbejdstidsloven) time-registration requirement.
