      Cryptomator vs Boxcryptor
      pros, cons and recent comments
FrankyWhite Unfortunately, the Cryptomator apps (iOS & Android) are closed source but the rest is open source. The encryption is very good and user-friendly. It is perfect for home users.

3li0 Cryptomator is a truly excellent application, I've been using it for local and cloud storage encryption and it is extremely useful. I recommend it to anyone looking to provide an extra layer of security to their cloud storage solution.

JohnFastman Boxcryptor is proprietary and costs money. Cryptomator is open source (you can check that it's implemented correctly) and it is free. Moreover, it works on Linux, which Boxcryptor does not. Cryptomator is excellent and basically a Boxcryptor killer. Mobile versions are in beta/soon ready.

Cryptomator does everything Boxcryptor does except it's free and open source, which means you can check the code for backdoors yourself, if you want. It also works on Linux, Mac and Windows. It makes encrypted copies of your files in a vault, which you can upload to, e.g. Dropbox, so that even Dropbox cannot see what you have in your files. Works with all cloud services.

      Discontinued

Currently unmaintained. Last version, TrueCrypt 7.1a, is still available for download and development has continued via the forks VeraCrypt and CipherShed. "The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014 after Microsoft terminated support of Windows XP. Windows 8/7/Vista and later offer integrated support for encrypted disks and virtual disk images."

      TrueCrypt vs Boxcryptor
      pros, cons and recent comments
TrueCrypt is still one of the best crypt tools out there, without backdoors and special general keys for authorities and the like.

      Cryptsync vs Boxcryptor
      pros, cons and recent comments
JohnFastman Does what Boxcryptor does. The advantages is that Cryptsync is open source, so you can have more confidence weaknesses will be spotted and fixed. The disadvantage is that Cryptsync is Windows-only. Crytomator is a good open source alternative that works on Windows, Mac and Linux. If you use Win only, Cryptsync is a good solution.
