Comment summary: AnySoftKeyboard is appreciated for its open-source nature, privacy features, and variety of configurations, such as swipe and theme options. Users commend its suitability as a privacy-conscious alternative to default keyboards, especially for those with de-googled phones. However, there are criticisms regarding its GUI, user-friendliness, and dictionary accuracy, with some finding its layout cumbersome and menus disorganized.

Variety of themes, sizes, and config options (like vibrate on touch on/off). Great open-source alternative to stock keyboards which may spy on you.

Difficult to get used to the change between letters and symbols. I came from using KeySwift and now I switched to OpenBoard (very cool).

I was won over by this keyboard right from the start. Open source and particularly respectful of data, I found the layout perfect ...

In particular, the change of keyboard and the left and right keys for navigating through text. In short, from the ergonomics to the layout of the main keys, right through to the special characters and the theme (which I found improved legibility)....

It's a shame it hasn't been maintained since 2021.

Far from perfect, this app needs work, particularly in the UI department, but it's probably the 2nd best privacy-conscious, FOSS mobile keyboard that you can be fairly confident isn't sending everthing you type to the powers that should not be. That said, I have come to prefer FUTO, which is much easier and better for most people.

Has a lot of features. Settings GUI is GARBAGE and incredibly hard to navigate. Don't even bother though because the only English keyboard with symbol hints has a comma in place of the L key for no reason. Thanks for nothing you absolute idiots.

Love it. I'm just looking for a plugin that adds every/most possible Unicode characters in the app.

Excellent keyboard. It should take a little time to customize it but it's worth it. It has multiple settings, respects your privacy and is Free and Open Source Software. The only drawback is the dictionary that sometimes does not recommend the correct word and needs to be corrected. Everything else is perfect.
