A clean Android setup with the best apps (mostly open source)
Everytime I setup a phone for a friend or myself I usually remove stock apps using adb or UniversalAndroidDebloaterNextGeneration and replace them with theses apps listed here. I added also a couple of nice to have apps that people might wants on their device.
Almost all of them are free as in free beer and many are open source (around 80%)
I tried to feature more applications and less services but there are several services still in this list, however I find them great and/or accessible (freemium most of the time).

Easily the best privacy-respecting Google Keyboard alternative I've used to-date. Highly recommended.
Currently does not have Chinese.
As of v0.1.28, it does now.
It only supports pinyin engine for now.
Does it have swipe typing / glide typing?
Test it and you will know! (and yes, it supports swipe typing)
currently using it :) forgot to remove/update my comment
They released a huge swipe-typing upgrade this month. The new swipe model feels much better than GBoard, and at least on par with SwiftKey! Help train the next version at https://swipe.futo.org/
The best open-source keyboard !
I used to think that, too. But they use a "custom" licence called Source First. While the source code is available, you are limited in what you can do with it. If you're an open source enthusiast, you'd probably not want to use this keyboard app.
Like it, even though it's alpha version, it's a usable and feature complete, i would like to support the development of alternative to gboard.
Finally a great Gboard alternative ! I love it.
I love FUTO Keyboard. It's voice input functionality works extremely well, and if you don't like it, then you can change which model is used to transform your voice into words. It is privacy respecting to the point where it doesn't require, and you are actually encouraged, to not give it network permissions.
