What is Acard?

Acard is an open-source (AGPL-3.0), local-first workspace in the style of Notion. One small Bun process serves the editor and stores everything in SQLite files inside a folder you choose; nothing leaves your machine unless you turn on a cloud feature.

Features:

  • Block editor with headings, lists, to-dos, toggles, callouts, code, tables, equations, images and embeds, plus / commands, Markdown shortcuts and 2-4 column layouts.
  • Databases with table, board, gallery, list, calendar, timeline and chart views, relations, rollups and formulas.
  • Built-in MCP endpoint and REST API, so Claude Code, Codex or any MCP client can read and write your pages locally without a token.
  • Markdown and Notion export import, full-text search, publish or share pages read-only.
  • One-zip backups with every table, file and a Markdown copy of each page; daily automatic backups.
  • Run it for yourself with the Acard Local desktop app (Windows installer; build from source on macOS/Linux), or host one server for a team on a LAN, home lab or VPN.
  • English, Korean and Simplified Chinese interface.

The project is in open beta (v0.3.2); the desktop app and the self-hosted server are free and open source.
