Sync-in 2.5 brings favorites, easier selection management, and unified recent activity

Sync-in, the sovereign platform for file storage, sharing, synchronization, and collaboration, has announced the release of version 2.5, an update that focuses less on headline-grabbing features and more on streamlining the day-to-day experience of working with files. At the heart of the update is a new favorites' system: files in personal spaces, collaborative spaces, and shared locations can now be pinned and retrieved from a dedicated view offering filtering, sorting, location details, and both list and gallery layouts. Alongside this, selection management has been overhauled — users can now activate selection mode simply by clicking a file or folder icon, with a new Selection panel that tallies selected items, computes their total size down to folder contents, and surfaces available actions directly.

Collaboration and discovery also receive notable attention in this release. Recent files and comments are now unified in a single, chronologically grouped timeline that can be filtered by activity type, replacing the need to check multiple views. Full-text search has been tuned for real-world inputs, with more reliable handling of compound terms such as dates, email addresses, and hyphenated names, normalization of invalid trailing operators, and improved snippet highlighting for accented and other Unicode characters as well as prefix matches. Copy, move, and upload workflows have been reworked too: the redesigned sidebar simplifies navigation between spaces, and users can now skip conflicting files rather than stalling an entire operation.

Rounding out the release are several quality-of-life improvements aimed at reducing friction for newcomers and regular users alike. First-time sign-ins now land users automatically in the first file location available to them — whether that is their personal space, a collaborative space, or a share, while a refreshed interface brings greater consistency and accessibility across desktop and mobile, including breadcrumbs that reflect configured space and share names, clearer sidebars, view controls, and context menus, and space navigation that stays available during searches. The update also ships with minor breaking changes, various bug fixes, and security enhancements, which the project recommends administrators review before upgrading.
